Why did you choose to work at EA?

A friend of mine reached out to me about Emerald Academy. I logged onto the website and read the school’s mission and vision for education. I loved everything Emerald Academy wanted for its scholars. I was on vacation, but immediately applied! I can still remember the day I was interviewed and walked through the hallways of the school for the first time – I could not wait to work here. This is my third year at Emerald Academy, and I absolutely love it!

What has been meaningful to you personally this school year?

When we learned that Emerald Academy was named Tennessee's Charter School of the Year, you really cannot beat that news! I had the opportunity to apply for growth within the organization, and it made me excited for my future at Emerald Academy. Also, my class received the K-2 Data Dominator Trophy for our hard work during quarter 1, and we got it again for quarter 2! 

What growth have you seen in your scholars and other scholars?

I am a kindergarten teacher, so I constantly get to watch my scholars grow in the classroom. It is absolutely magical to see a scholar’s growth from the beginning of the year to the end. You go from teaching them their letter sounds, to sounding out words, and then to reading books. Each one of my scholars experienced huge growth from their first day of kindergarten to Christmas break! I love tracking their data and showing each scholar how hard they have been working.
